It is a seal - not a gasket.
If it puked out that much oil - get it fixed immediately. Oil maintenance is clearly one of the secrets of longevity with the Savage.
The issue usually is a small seal on the right hand forward area of the engine. Suzuki has designed it and reports are that the new seal holds up a bit better.
